Springtime is here!!

This post has nothing to do with makeup.  I am just so excited that spring is finally here that I wanted to post a couple of pictures that I took!  There's just something about spring air that makes you just want to go outside and take a deep breath, I love it!

These are just the flowers on the tree in my front yard (sorry I don't know what kind of tree it is)!  Aren't they beautiful??
And this picture is of my "Lamb's Ear", I just thought it was kind of a neat picture.

And now I have to share with you the most AMAZING jeans ever created!!!   I got these last week.  I have to tell you here that I do not buy myself clothes.  Like ever.  If I have extra money, you'd better bet I'm buying something makeup related haha.  But it had been a while... like a really long while since I've bought new jeans and I needed some.

So I had been taking these stupid online surveys on "e-rewards": each survey is worth a certain amount of money and then you cash in your money to get some kind of reward.  Well I saw on there that if I earned $95 then I could get a $50 Express gift card so that's what I did.  The week I finally earned enough (it really took a long time) and my gift card came in the mail, I also got coupons from Express giving me $40 off of a purchase of $120 or more!!!  So I went to Express and picked out these jeans.

Now let me say that I have "thick" thighs.  They are just big and muscular and they always have been and no matter how skinny I could get, I'd still have large thighs.  Let me give you an example; a few years ago I had on a pair of sweatpants at my parent's house and my dad looked at me and said, "Sonja, you should model softball pants."  Yup... softball pants.  I know he meant well but in my language that meant, "Sonja, you have really big thighs" haha.  So I need pants that flare out at the bottom to make my thighs not look as huge.

I picked out two pairs of jeans that are the same style, one just has whiskering and fading on them and the other is just dark blue, I got to the dressing room and put them on and got so excited because they looked good and I didn't look at myself in the mirror and say "hello thighs" like I usually do when I try on pants haha.  Now let me warn you that these aren't cheap pants.  The plain dark blue pants were $69.90 and the ones with whiskering were $79.90 (I guess whiskering costs more???).  But they had a buy one get one 50% off sale (that's actually why I got two pairs).  I also grabbed two tank tops (each was supposed to be $19.90) from there because I wear tank tops under everything and they were also buy one get one 50% off.  So all of these things added up (with no sales on anything) would have originally been about $190, but with the sale, my gift card, and my coupon I paid about $60!!!  Yay for deal hunters!!!

Now, without further ado, let me introduce you to my incredible pants (maybe some day I'll get brave enough to post a picture of me wearing them but today is not that day):

The plain ones:

The ones with whiskering:
I highly HIGHLY recommend them to anyone who had big thighs (oh, but I should mention that I don't have big hips or a big butt).  LOVE them!!!

Well, that's enough of my rambling for today haha!  I hope that you all enjoy the spring weather as much as I have been (unless you live somewhere like Upstate NY who still have snow haha)!  Thanks guys for reading this!!!

Blues and some goodies!

So this is just my makeup from yesterday.  It's nothing super thrilling, just blues.  I wanted to do some kind of color because I was wearing a black shirt so I chose blue.  For my eyes I used:
TFSI first (as always), then I used NYX jumbo eye pencils in "black bean" and "milk" (I tried something new by putting the milk on the inner half of my eyelid, then I put black bean on the outer half and up above my crease).  Then I used NYX ultra pearl mania in "space" and "ocean blue." The outer v is NYX's eyeshadow in "black" and the highlight is MAC's "Vanilla" pigment (LOVE!!!).

Then I was being goofy with my daughter:

Isn't she beautiful?  I mean, look at those eyes!!!  Oh, and these pictures with my daughter were taken WAY later in the day (hence nothing on my lips haha)!

And here's one of us being normal haha:

Anyways... I went to Target yesterday (I could seriously spend every day in there and not get sick of it) and wandered through the cosmetics department and saw a big E.L.F. display and saw that they had some their "studio" line there.  So I bought the blush/bronzer duo because I had it before but used it all and couldn't justify spending their crazy shipping prices for one thing.  So I was really excited to see that there because it's only $3 and it's amazing, I really love it.  So here's what it looks like

I also was in need of some new mascara.  I've been using L'oreal Voluminous Carbon Black and I really love it.  I had seen an ad for L'oreal "Extra Volume Collagen" mascara and I loved the way the brush looked so I decided to grab that one.  It was $6.54 (I know, what a weird price).  The packaging:

Here's the Voluminous wand compared to the Extra Volume Collagen (the Voluminous wand is longer, which I like better):

"Extra Volume Collagen" is on top and "Voluminous" is on the bottom

And here are the brushes themselves (they're really not all that different, the bristles on the Extra Volume Collagen are longer than Voluminous and they actually get longer towards the tip):
"Extra Volume Collagen" on the left "Voluminous" on the right

Here's me with no mascara:

Here's me with the extra volume collagen:

I know I should have put the Voluminous on the other eye to show you what they each do for the lashes but I didn't think that would be fair to the Voluminous because it's old and kinda dry.  But overall, I would definitely buy the "Extra Volume Collagen" again (I probably like it more than the Voluminous).  It made my lashes look really long and it doesn't make my lashes feel stiff like some other mascaras do.  I just wish it was a little more black.  I bought "blackest black" but it's really not super black like I was hoping.

And I figured I'd throw in my makeup today since I used the products I bought (normally I wouldn't post this look as I didn't even try to create any depth in the shadows haha oh well!).
On my eyes I have:
TFSI, then NYX JEP in "milk"
NYX ultra pearl manias in "rust" and "walnut"
Highlight is MAC "Vanilla" pigment
And I am wearing the E.L.F. blush/bronzer duo on my cheeks

Well thanks again for checking this out.  I hope it might help you a little (haha sorry if it doesn't).  I hope you have an incredible day!!!!

Silly rabbit, Trix are for kids!!!

I know, what a random title.  I swear it'll make sense in a minute haha.  Ya know how you take your child with you to the grocery store and they ask for EVERYTHING?  Well I decided to let my daughter pick out some Trix yogurts for herself (which temporarily satisfied the asking for things) and of course as soon as we got home, she had to eat one right away.  None of this surprised me, but what threw me off a little and made me appreciate her a little more was when she opened her yogurt, she gasped and said "Wow!  It's so beautiful!"  How adorable is that?  My daughter thought this Trix yogurt was sooo beautiful, so I took a picture of it and had every intention of doing a look based on it.  Well, it took me about a month but I finally got around to doing it.  I have to say that it's definitely not a look I'd wear around but I was pleased with how it came out.

Here's my inspiration (I swear it was a lot more pink in person)
And here's my look!
On my eyes, I used:
TFSI first, then NYX jumbo eye pencil in "Milk"
The blue is Ben Nye pigment in "Cosmic Blue"
The pink is Ben Nye pigment in "Azalea"
and the purple is two purples from the NYX purple's trio.

And now, since I'm talking about Ben Nye pigments, I figured I'd add some swatches of the ones that I have!  I actually ordered these pigment samples from the MakeupGeek store probably about a year ago.  I believe they're $2.19 each.  They're really beautiful and have great pigmentation.  Here they all are swatched with NYX jumbo eye pencil in Milk as a base:

Starting on the top line from left to right:
Azalea, Cherry Red, Tangerine, Sun Yellow
Chartreuse, Jade, Peacock, Cosmic Blue, and Amethyst
with flash

no flash
And then here they all are in the adorable jars they came in:

As you can see, they're super gorgeous.  However, I really don't find myself reaching for these very often, especially if I have similar colors in a pressed shadow form.  If I were considering buying these again, I'd probably just get Azalea, Sun Yellow, Chartreuse, and Cosmic Blue (by FAR my favorite) as I really haven't used the others at all.

Well, I hope you enjoyed looking at this and I hope you have a great night and look for inspiration where you might not normally find it!

Hooray! My first ever blog post!!

Well, I should start off by saying thank you to anyone who takes time out of their day to look at this!  The only reason I even considered starting a blog is because of a girl on Makeup Geek (I love that website!!!) said a few times that perhaps I should start a blog (if I can figure all of this out, I'll try to put a link to her blog here: http://cydonianmakeup.blogspot.com/ )  But I guess I'll start off, since this is my first post and all, showing you some makeup looks I've done (anyone who's on MakeupGeek has probably already seen these)!  So hang in there with me while I show you these!

Whew... take a deep breath... we're about halfway through haha!

As you can see, I have a completely healthy love for makeup haha!!  I tried to post each look only once so I hope I don't have any repeats!

I don't think I'll be doing strictly a makeup blog.  I'll probably throw up a recipe every now and then or tell you about something I bought that I really love and stuff like that!  If there's anything you think I could do better on (that's easy to fix because I'm sooo not good at computer stuff) feel free to let me know!  Otherwise I guess this is it for my very first post!  Thank you again for looking (I know it took forever because I have like a year's worth of looks stored up on here!)!  I hope you all have an incredible day!
